NEWS : DEEPIKA PADUKONE TO ROMANCE AMIR KHAN IN 'DHOOM 3'

‘Dhoom 3’ is on the making and the most difficult part that the makers of ‘Dhoom 3’ is facing is to cast a suitable female lead opposite Aamir Khan. Many Bollywood names like Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra were considered but due to some reasons or the other, things did not fall in place. Now the latest rumor that is doing the rounds is that Deepika Padukone will star opposite the perfectionist.

However, Deepika has been approached by Yash Raj and the actress was spotted outside Yash Raj office. The actress featuring in this high octane action drama has not yet been confirmed but speculation is high that the long leg dusky beauty will play Aamir Khan’s ladylove. 

Earlier Katrina Kaif was considered for the role but she opted out as the role demands intimate scene and bikini. Not only Bollywood but many Hollywood names were being considered for the role, divas like Penelope Cruz and Eva Longoria were approached by the makers.

Writers, directors share maximum credit for my success: Aamir

By Dibyojyoti Baksi,Mumbai, July 5: As an actor, producer and director, Aamir Khan hasn't gone wrong in past few years and the star says the writers and the directors of his movies should be applauded for the success.

"If you are saying Aamir you have so many successes, I am not a solo player. It's a team effort and in the team the two main people are not me - one is writer and the other is director," Aamir told IANS.

In the recent past, Aamir has produced unconventional films like "Peepli Live", "Dhobi Ghat" and recently released "Delhi Belly". All the films set the cash registers ringing.

"I don't have the magic touch. Yes, I have accepted those films and I have accepted the unusual films, so you can give me credit for that. I had the good sense to say yes to them, I had the good sense to work good in them and I was fortunate to have a good team in these films," he said.

Often referred to as Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir said: "There are many reasons for which the films have been successful. Every film of mine which has become successful has first originated in the mind of a writer with whom I have no connection, neither have I given the idea to him."

"'Laagan' came in Ashutosh's mind and when he came to me, his script was totally complete and I loved it. My contribution to the script is zero. 'Peepli Live', 'Rang De Basanti', 'Taare Zameen Par' all of these films are written by different writers, some of them are writer-director together.

"Now, had not these beautiful scripts not come to me, I would have not been able to be part of these films. The other creative talents who have contributed to the success of the film also share the equal credit for it."

The 46-year-old is grateful to have so many successful films under his belt.

"I am very grateful that I have so many films that are successful and I feel that I am very fortunate," he said.

Aamir Khan has won 1 crore on the Bengali version of Kaun Banega Crorepati, Ke Hobey Banglar Kotipati, if rumours are to be believed.

The actor appeared with wife Kiran Rao on the show, hosted by Sourav Ganguly. Said a source from the audience, "Although Aamir had used up all his lifelines before reaching the final level, he was able to give the correct answer after a lot of pondering and discussions with Kiran." However, when Aamir was later asked about how much he won, he refused to confirm anything.

Bollywood News: Darsheel will always be my superhero, says Aamir Khan

Mumbai: After giving Darsheel Safary a dream launchpad with ‘Taare Zameen Par’, actor-producer-director Aamir Khan has now praised and extended support to the child actor and his movie ‘Zokkomon’, releasing Friday. Aamir showered praise and extended good wishes to Darsheel when the ‘Zokkomon’ team, including director Satyajit Bhatkal and actress Manjari Phadnis, visited his Bandra house to invite him for a special screening of the movie.

"I am very excited to watch this action adventure by Disney which is known for quality films, and especially since it has Darsheel in a brand new superhero avatar. He will always be my superhero in real life too," said Aamir.

The actor also wished good luck to the director, and hopes the film gets a good reception at the Box Office.

"Satyajit has been a close childhood friend and I have known him since years. I was proud to have produced his National Award winning documentary and I wish him all the best for his debut! This is a very different kind of film and will be a special treat for kids in summer vacations and family audiences as well," added Aamir.

‘Zokkomon’ is an action adventure film full of special effects.

Amitabh Bachchan Touched By Aamir Khan’s Surprise Visit

Bollywood ‘Shahenshah’ Amitabh Bachchan and perfectionist Aamir Khan has always admired each other and shares a very wonderful relation. The mutual respect between these two actors has brought them closer. Big B has always appreciated Aamir’s work and his mannerism but the duo has never acted together in any film.

Aamir Khan is known to get into the skin of the character he plays. This is all the more evident in the latest Tata Sky commercial which sees Aamir playing a milkman.

The commercial, in a funny way, shows Tata Sky's new feature which allows customers a subscription holiday once a year. Like his previous avatars, Aamir once again seems completely in character as he plays a milkman who argues with a customer who is willing to pay for only the days he was in town. Aamir in turn explains that the cow who gives milk doesn't know that the customer was on vacation and hence asks him to pay for the whole month's milk supply.

After seeing the commercial, one thing is certain that this actor truly deserves the tag of 'Mr. Perfectionist'.

Aamir says that I want Argentina to win!

After the shocking departure of the football giant Brazil from the ongoing FIFA World Cup at the hands of the Dutch on Friday, soccer fans are counting the hours and minutes to the clash of the tournament, Germany Vs Argentina on Saturday.

Aamir Khan, a football fan (but then, who isn’t), has been rooting for Argentina to lift up the cup from the start. Though the actor hasn’t been able to watch many matches because of his ongoing post-production of Dhobi Ghaat, which has him playing the lead role, he has been showing keen interest in the quarterfinal clashes.

“I can see that Germany and Brazil are playing really well, but, I want Argentina to win!” Aamir posted on his tweet on Thursday.

Now that Brazil is knocked out, the choice boils down to Germany and Argentina, and only one of them could progress to the semi final stages.

Of the two, Aamir chooses Argentina.

“Have been supporting Argentina from the start,” Aamir tweeted.

PS: Though the bookies’ favourite too is Argentina, the popular octopus called ‘The Oracle’ aka Paul, that has predicted all the Germany matches correctly in the tournament so far, has chosen Germany to win the match against Argentina. In case the oracle comes true, Aamir surely will be heartbroken.

Danny Boyle’s eyes on Aamir

His next home production, Peepli Live may be the main thing on Aamir Khan’s mind right now but there’s always space for other things, like new roles which could lead him to the Oscar glory that eluded him the last time round!

Aamir confirmed that he has been offered a role in Danny Boyle’s next Bombay Velvet. "Yes I have been offered Danny’s film, but I am completely involved with Peepli right now," said Aamir.

Aamir and Danny had talked about a combined project at the premiere of Slumdog Millionaire in Mumbai and with the Oscar winning director repeatedly spotted in Mumbai, rumours continued that it was to convince the perfectionist.

"I have been offered many projects, I am thinking over them," said Aamir.

Bombay Velvet will be directed by Anurag Kashyap and is said to be based on a series of real life city based stories.

Though many have suggested that Shah Rukh Khan was offered the role first, Anurag insists that Aamir was always their first choice.

"Shah Rukh Khan is a nice actor, but this script is tailor made for Aamir. We never considered casting anyone else," Anurag had once said.

SRK was supposed to play Anil Kapoor’s part in Slumdog Millionaire and everyone knows well that turned out for him!

Aamir’s had his eyes on the west for a while now, let’s hope he finally has reason to say Jai Ho!

Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots has bagged maximum number of nominations at IIFA

Aamir Khan-starrer ‘3 Idiots’ has bagged maximum number of nominations at the 2010 International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards to be held in Colombo from June 3.

Directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, ‘3 Idiots’ marked its presence in all categories except best supporting actress. It has received 14 nominations including best film, best actor, best director and best actress, among others.

Other films nominated are Saif Ali Khan`s ‘Love Aaj Kal’ that has bagged nine nominations, while IIFA brand ambassador Amitabh Bachchan-starrer ‘Paa’ and Shahid Kapoor`s ‘Kaminey’ both got eight nominations each.

"Colombo marks the second decade of IIFA. The nominees for the Micromax IIFA Awards 2010 are a compilation of the best work from the previous year and the suspense and celebration of these worthy nominations will undoubtedly create another magical IIFA," said Sabbas Joseph, one of the directors of Wizcraft, in a statement.

The nominations were released after voting in March. Results were audited by PricewaterhouseCoopers. The event will take place June 3-5 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

But Aamir suddenly had to cancel all his work commitments as he heard of Sachin’s marriage. The wedding date got finalised just a week ago so Aamir decided to cancel all his shoots and attend Sachin’s wedding. Aamir was keen to attend the two-day wedding celebrations despite his pre-planned work schedule. The actor was there for Sachin like a family member.”

Aamir contacted his ad filmmakers and asked them to cancel his shoots. “Luckily it was just a 3-4 hour shoot for the patchwork shoot of a commercial which could also be done at a later date. Aamir’s other commitment was a look test for another ad. Both these appointments have been put on hold for two days and didn’t really create much of a problem for the ad makers,” adds the source.

“Yesterday a ceremony was held at Sachin’s house and today there is a ceremony at the bride’s house. Sachin was particularly surprised to see Aamir at his wedding as he was aware of the actor’s professional commitments this week,” adds the source.

Aamir Khan Latest News – In Paris to meet and interact with Fans

(1) Recently Aamir Khan, who was holidaying with his family in France, took out some time to meet up with his fans in Paris. Through his blog, Aamir Khan had invited his fans to meet up with him in Paris on the 2nd of May.

Aamir Khan received the Phalke Memorial Performance Award for his performance in 3 Idiots. Singer Lata Mangeshkar received the Phalke Golden Era Singer Award.

(4) Aamir Khan was appointed sanitation brand ambassador to promote cleanliness in CBSE schools on Tuesday. We are happy to have Aamir as our brand ambassador. We hope he will help this scheme become a success,” said HRD minister Kapil Sibal, after launching the National School Sanitation Initiative at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi. Aamir Khan is on top of the wish list of director James Cameron

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is on top of the wish list of Avatar director James Cameron who is keen to cast the actor in one of his films.

The director of two of the highest-grossing films in the history of cinema, Titanic and Avatar, Cameron shared the stage with the actor known as ’Mr Perfectionist’ at the India Today Conclave 2010 in New Delhi and said that he was honoured to do so.

When speaking about the meeting of Western filmdom with India’s own Bollywood, Aamir said that he has not yet been a part of a Hollywood film, to which Cameron quickly replied, "We could fix that as soon as possible."

Aamir too expressed his admiration for the Terminator director saying that he came to listen to him and learn as much as possible.

The director and the actor have a lot in common, including the fact that they hold records for highest grossers.

While Cameron’s 3-D sci-fi epic Avatar broke global box-office records, Aamir’s 3 Idiots is the highest grossing Bollywood film of all time.

The two were speaking on the topic Future of Cinema at the conclave, where the audience included Cameron’s wife actress Suzy Amis and Bollywood actors Ranbir Kapoor and Asin among others.

Aamir Khan has again decided to take a break from acting

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan seems to be back taking to his famous way of career planning. Well, it appears that the actor has again decided totake a break from acting for a long time.

According to the latest buzz, Aamir has decided to only focus on his wife’s directorial debut, ‘Dhobhi Ghat’, and his next production ‘Peepli Live’, for now.

Soon after that, he would just be concentrating on nephew Imran Khan’s much-awaited venture ‘Delhi Belly’. Considering that the film is long due, Aamir will be giving his undivided attention to Imran’s flick.

So for now it seems that the actor won’t be seen doing a lengthy role till 2012. We are sure he’ll be missed, especially around the end of each year till then!

Aamir Khan really doesn’t like is acrimonious aggression

One thing Aamir Khan really doesn’t like is acrimonious aggression. So the actor, who has been locking horns with Javed Akhtar over the significance of lyricists in songs, has now tendered his resignation from the committee reviewing the proposed amendment in copyright laws. And it’s all owing to the committee members who seem to have a problem with all the suggestions coming from the fabled actor.

The committee, which was formed on January 4th to revise the copyright law, had Boney Kapoor, Javed Akhtar, Bhushan Kumar, Vishal Bhardwaj, Madhu Mantena, Mukesh Bhatt, Prasoon Joshi and Aamir Khan as its members.

Talking about Aamir’s rift with the committee, a source said, “Aamir felt that all his efforts were a waste because some people weren’t happy with his inputs on the issue. He also felt that people were just targeting him despite the fact that he had nothing to gain out of the matter. So after he read some reports in the media, he just decided to distance himself from it. He sent his resignation to Kapil Sibal yesterday evening.”

In his letter to Sibal, Aamir wrote, “I cannot make any meaningful contribution in this atmosphere. Aggression of this type leaves me feeling very disillusioned and sad and I am unable to function.”

The actor also told Sibal, “I believe that amendments to the Copyright Act are long overdue and I am so happy that a person like you is spearheading this movement. I believe that the changes that you are bringing about in the sphere of education are so dynamic, progressive and positive, that I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that you will do the same in the field of copyright.”

Aamir, Salman and SRK join hands

I rrespective of their numerous internal squabbles, for this one time all the Khans have come together. Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan have both sent consent letters to the producers’ body that they are standing by the film-funders and not the multiplexes in the current stand-off plaguing the celluloid industry.

What’s more interesting is that Salman Khan (who has sworn to never patch up with SRK post their rift at Katrina Kaif’s birthday) too has joined SRK and Aamir by telling the producers that he is on their side. Saif Ali Khan, we have learnt, will also show his allegiance to the film-makers and not the exhibitors.

Mukesh Bhatt, chairman of the producers’ body, says, “It is true that we have got consent letters from the big Khans in the film fraternity. As you know, all of them have turned producers and so they are on our side and not the multiplexes. We want to show the multiplexes that we all are together in this fight.” Interestingly, Aamir is very close to PVR as he forged a partnership with the company for his directorial debut Taare Zameen Par.

Earlier, a source had tipped us about the development, “When the core committee of the producers’ body took a decision to ban the multiplexes, they asked all the producers for consent on the decision. The Khans were approached too as they all own production houses. Being producers, they had to side the funding body.”
