Bollywood News: Aishwarya, Sonam & Freida to represent India at Cannes

Bollywood’s hot beauties Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor and Freida Pinto is reported to light up the Red Carpet for L’Oreal Paris at the Cannes Film Festival to be held from the 11th-22nd of May 2011.

Interestingly, it is for the first time that L’Oreal Paris will have 3 spokeswomen representing India at Cannes, a testimony to India’s growing influence on the world stage.

Aishwarya, who celebrates a decade of representing L’Oreal Paris at Cannes, will like previous years walk the red carpet on May 11 for the opening ceremony and will attend the Opening Gala cocktail and dinner while attending various events at Cannes on May 12.

Said the diva in a statement, “Being at Cannes for L’Oreal Paris has been an absolute pleasure and to experience this for the tenth consecutive year has been quite overwhelming. I thank the L’Oreal Paris team and the Cannes Film Festival for inviting me every year to represent India at one of the most glamorous red carpets on the world platform, celebrating cinema, showbiz, beauty, diversity and excellence. Several countries have always had more than one L’Oreal Paris spokeswoman at Cannes and I’m glad India is finally getting the same recognition. I am happy that with Sonam and Freida, both beautiful women, being invited to the festival this year, India will have a stronger presence, which is a clear sign of the growing importance of the country.”

While Sonam will be walking the red carpet on May 15, Freida will represent L’Oreal Paris at the amFAR (The American Foundation for AIDS Research) dinner and after-party on May 19. The amFAR event co-sponsored by L’Oreal Paris aims at raising money against AIDS.

On the other hand Sonam stated, “It has always been my dream to walk the red carpet at Cannes and it is soon going to be a reality thanks to L’Oreal Paris. I look forward to meeting actors and film makers from the world over and attending screenings of some interesting films. But what excites me the most is meeting the L’Oreal Paris international dream team of make-up artistes and seeing how they transform me for one of the most glamorous red carpets in the world.”

L’Oreal Paris will also introduce its first dream team of three internationally renowned make-up artists – Karim Rahman, Billy B and Rie Omoto who will design exclusive make-up looks for all the spokeswomen, jury members and actresses present during the course of the festival.

hollywood News: Freida’s the next bond girl?

Freida Pinto’s global allure continues to charm the West. Even as anticipation about the actor bagging Dhoom 3 grows, she has already become the punters’ hot favourite to become the next Bond babe.

Over the past few weeks, Pinto has emerged as the most desired female star among several bookmakers to star alongside Daniel Craig in the forthcoming 007 extravaganza.

To start with, popular bookmakers, Boylesports, has listed her with the odds of 10/11, as the star in the next Bond film. In fact, her odds are better than Hollywood stars like Zoe Saldana (15/8) and Emma Watson (10/1).

Interestingly, Rachel Weisz – who is believed to be having an affair with Craig – goes with the odds of 2/1. The buzz is that she might be cast as a villain in the blockbuster franchise.

Ireland-based Paddy Power too puts Pinto in the favourite bracket with odds of 8/11; followed by Saldana (13/8) and Megan Fox (5/1). Others include Keira Knightley (10/1), Natalie Portman (12/1) and Mila Kunis (14/1). Bond is expected to return to the silver screen in November 2012, as filming is set to start this year. As per Sky Bet, Pinto is 3/1 favourite, while Olga Kurylenko is at 4/1 to make a second appearance as Camille. Weisz is at 8/1.

Pinto couldn’t be reached for a comment as she is shooting for Jean-Jacques Annaud’s Black Gold along with Antonio Banderas, Riz Ahmed and Mark Strong in Qatar. Her publicists, though, maintain that she “hasn’t been approached to play the Bond babe yet”.

Clearly, that hasn’t stopped Ladbrokes from considering Pinto as the hot favourite option for the much-coveted part. Interestingly, Shilpa Shetty follows Pinto in the list with odds of 5/1, followed by Megan Fox (10/1) and Keira Knightley (14/1).

According to Nicola McGeady of Boylesports, several girls are “hoping for a call from the producers”. She says: “Being cast as a Bond girl has launched the Hollywood career of many young actresses and fans cannot wait to find out who will be next. Who wouldn’t want to film a bedroom scene with Daniel Craig?”

Last year, a few UK tabloids confirmed that Freida landed a multi-million pound deal to be the next Bond girl. As per reports, she was set to sign the money-spinning deal thought to be worth £3 million for the Sam Mendes film. It was suggested that the new Bond film would be shot in Buckinghamshire’s Pinewood studios and on location in Kabul.

`Slumdog Millionaire` star Freida Pinto is "flattered" by rumours linking her to a role in the new 007 movie but insists that she is not "beautiful" enough to play a Bond girl.

"It was very flattering. I don`t know if I would have done it. I am too young to be a Bond girl and you need someone more mature and beautiful than me," starpulse.com quoted Frieda as saying.

Frieda was recently reported to have signed up to play Daniel Craig`s love interest in the next James Bond blockbuster, which will be directed by Sam Mendes.

Freida Pinto has appeared on the cover page of Cosmopolitan magazine. Not only this, in the latest issue of the magazine Freida talks all about her life, pre and post the cult film Slumdog Millionaire.
