Shahid Kapoor: I didn't charge dad

New Delhi, Sept. 12 -- Shahid Kapoor charges over R15 crore for his films, but the actor hasn't charged a penny for Mausam, yet. Directed by his father Pankaj Kapur, the film has been made on a budget of R50 crore. But, the 30-year-old actor clarifies that his fees did not add to the expenses. "It is such a big and expensive film that I didn't want the burden of my fees to fall on the film's budget.

We've worked out a structure of sorts, so that my payment is not a burden on the film as of now," says Shahid while on a visit to the Capital. Does that mean he's following a profit sharing model like the Khans. "Please contact my accountant for more details," he says.

Shahid has had a spate of bad luck with international events recently. In August, the music launch of the film in London was cancelled due to the riots in the city, and his live performance at Times Square, New Jersey, was called off after hurricane Irene struck.

Though he now has his fingers crossed that all will go well with Mausam's scheduled premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on Friday, he is quick to add, "I'm not making plans for Toronto as of now." But, the film has reached a stumbling block. Based on the Indian Air Force (IAF), a sequence in the film needs to reworked after the IAF objected to it. "Certain special effects and computer graphics were added during post-production and that's come under scrutiny. But it's a 30 second sequence and hopefully will be rectified in time," he says.

For him, the best part about his role as Squadron Leader Harinder (Harry) Singh was getting to fly an F16 and the worst was having to maintain a moustache! "It is the most difficult thing to maintain! I used to cut myself while trimming everyday. And I will never keep one in the future again," says Shahid, all smiles now that he's back to his clean shaven avatar.

Sonam's kissing debut with Mausam!

Sonam kapoor with Sahid Kapoor in Mausam

After a denial from Sonam Kapoor, there is indeed a passionate lip-lock between Sonam and Shahid in Mausam.

"There is no kissing scene in Mausam." Sonam Kapoor had said earlier. There was a time when Sonam was not exactly on friendly terms with Shahid. Apparently when Pankaj Kapur, director of the film had informed Sonam about the kiss, she had put her foot down. Her refusal created drama on the sets. Kapur had even called up her father Anil Kapoor in desperation. But to no avail. Finally the actor succumbed to the director's demand.

Now that all the strife and uncertainty is in the past, Sonam told Mumbai Mirror about the kiss: "Jitna hona chahiye tha, utna hi rakha gaya (Whatever was required has been retained)."

"Sonam is a fantastic actress. She had a very comfortable equation with Pankaj and Shahid. If there were any aspersions whatsoever, they were cast aside during the course of the shoot," the tabloid quotes Sheeta Talwar, producer of the film as saying.

Although it's Sonam's kissing debut, for Shahid, it's his fouth time. He has locked lips with Kareena Kapoor (Jab We Met), Priyanka Chopra (Kaminey) and Anushka Sharma (Badmaash Company).

When I wrote the script, the concept was developed keeping in mind Shahid. After the completion of the script the first girl who could do justice of the role of the lead actress was Sonam.”

I was fortunate that I got the opportunity to fly. It was an exhilarating experience. I feel much honored to be a part of something like this. I am also being proud to be the only one Bollywood actor who flew F 16.

For the role I met various airforce officers, spoken to them, studies their body language. Learned what all goes into being an airforce officer.

The air force training was also a wonderful experience to go through. The entire process requires a graph. I researched on them and even met few air force officers. Their attitude is awesome. They are the real heroes."

Shahid Kapoor And Priyanka Chopra Reunite For New Year

Bollywood actors and rumored couple Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra have decided that the only way to solve the differences that have greatly affected their blooming relationship in the past is to spend quality time with one another. Therefore, the couple are headed to a resort in Chandigarh to spend a quiet and romantic New Year. Many would be surprised by the choice of location for celebrations, but the news is that Shahid Kapoor is busy with the filming work of his latest movie Mausam in the Punjab capital, and will only get a break during the New Year!

However, a spokesman for Priyanka Chopra has vehemently rubbished rumors of her going to Chandigarh to spend the New Year holiday. On the other hand, another source says that the couple have already made necessary arrangements at a resort in Chandigarh. The media on its part can only hope for a reunion of the couple, whose relationship as was understood over a Koffee chat with Karan Johar, is a victim of misunderstandings created by other people.

Shahid and Priyanka were announced a couple after the audience loved their superb chemistry in Kaminey and since then the actors are trying hard to maintain that they are only good friends in front of media cameras. A source is of the opinion that it was on the sets of ‘Koffee With Karan’ that the actors sorted out their problems and then decided to give each other a little time to understand where their relationship is going.

Hence, Shahid Kapoor will be taking a break from work in the New Year weekend, Priyanka Chopra will drop in at Chandigarh and the media will be waiting for a confirmation!

Shahid and Kareena are back together once again…

Remember how Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor avoided shooting together for the patch work of their much delayed and now flopped film Milenge Milenge?

It’s clear that the two ex lovers have been avoiding each other likea deadly disease. But now, if things go as planned director Siddharth Malhotra whose first film We Are Family opened at theaters this Thursday might bring the two exes together.

Siddharth had originally planned his second film with Kajol. But since the actress will be on a maternity break from work for about a year and a half, the director has penned another script, a father-daughter comedy.

Siddharth hopes to rope in Rishi Kapoor and his niece Kareena, as father and daughter in the film. For the romantic angle (with Kareena obviously) the director might rope in Shahid who is his very good friend.

“I was the Associate Director of ‘Vivah’. Shahid and I have been close since then. Now we’re even closer. I really value his judgement,” Malhotra is quoted as saying by a news agency.

Malhtora added that he will approach Shahid for the role only after getting the script approved from Karan Johar whom he calls his ‘guru’.

Milenge Milenge Movie Review By Taran Adarsh

Milenge Milenge Movie Review By Taran Adarsh .Freshly cooked, piping hot food is savoured instantly. Similarly, a film that radiates freshness catches your eye instantaneously. Conversely, if a film takes a really long time to hit the screens, it generally doesn't find a place in your things-to-do-this-weekend list, unless the word of mouth is electrifying. MILENGE MILENGE suffers for this reason. Even the man on the street knows that it's a dated product!

The gap between the commencement of this film and its eventual release is quite substantial and that's pretty evident when you look at its promos. Especially the way the lead actors look. The camera doesn't lie, right? Perhaps, that's a prime reason why MILENGE MILENGE doesn't propel you to rush to a nearby cineplex and grab a seat, despite the fact that its lead stars are at the prime of their respective careers and enjoy a solid fan-base.

But never judge a book by its cover. Sure, you march into the film with zilch expectations, expecting a dated product with a hackneyed plotline, but as the reels begin to unspool, you realize that it does have a story to tell. So what if MILENGE MILENGE borrows from the John Cusack - Kate Beckinsale starrer SERENDIPITY [2001]. The Indianisation by writer Shiraz Ahmed is quite engaging at places.

he 'recipe' for that perfect love story is simple [at least that's what most film-makers believe]: Cast a good looking pair, choose a tried-and-tested story [read, make a mix of EK DUUJE KE LIYE, Q.S.Q.T., MAINE PYAAR KIYA, D.D.L.J., KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI], garnish it with sweet/cute/romantic/delightful situations, add a couple of energetic songs [at least two/three Hit songs are a must] and shoot the muvie at panaromic locales. Presto, prem kahani tayyar ho gayee!

But MILENGE MILENGE has 'kismet' keeping the lovers apart. Imagine a love story where the lovers have already expressed love for each other, but some force beyond their control gets in their way and keeps them apart till the end of the film. The script indulges in bringing its leads together, but also makes sure that they stay far away from each other till minutes before the film is about to conclude. Sure, this thought sounds interesting on paper, but there's a flipside to it. With Facebook, Twitter, Google and also cellphones at one's disposal, is it difficult to trace anyone in today's times? Naah, not anymore!

Final word? MILENGE MILENGE may be dated, but watch it for the chemistry between its lead pair. Perhaps, this JAB WE MET jodi may never team up ever again!

Immy [Shahid Kapoor] and Priya [Kareena Kapoor] meet at a youth festival in Bangkok. Priya is a romantic at heart and expects her life partner to be a teetotaler, a guy who doesn't smoke and also, who doesn't lie. Immy is totally opposite of what Priya wants from her life partner. Their world collides when Immy lays his hands on Priya's personal diary and learns of her likes and dislikes. He poses as her dream mate by giving her a totally different picture of himself.

While preparing to return to Delhi, Priya discovers the copy of her diary in Immy's room. She realizes that Immy has made a fool of her and decides to confront him. In the meantime, Immy confides in his friends that although he has cheated Priya, he is truly in love with her. But Priya appears in front of him and all hell breaks loose. She decides to end the relationship.

Immy tries to regain her trust by telling her that they are destined to be together. Priya decides that if it is destined that they be together, then they will find each other in Delhi again, although both do not know each other's whereabouts in Delhi. Three years later, Immy returns from abroad, while Priya is now settled in Mumbai. Immy is engaged to a family friend's daughter [Aarti Chhabria], while Priya has also moved on in life. She is in a relationship with a pop singer.

Both of them are about to be married, but after all these years, they still have this nagging feeling that the other was his/her true love. Of course, fate conspires to bring them back together [after several near misses] as they simultaneously undertake one last attempt to find one another just before they get married to someone else.

MILENGE MILENGE starts off like one of those countless love stories, with mandatory songs and lovey-dovey scenes aplenty, but the twist minutes before the interval is so well executed that it suddenly raises the bar of the film. Naturally then, you expect the post-interval portions to charter a new path.

The second half has its share of engaging moments, but, very frankly, it tends to get repetitive and melodramatic as well. The entire track of a particular Rs. 50 currency note and the book with Kareena's name and phone number on it, although novel, hasn't been portrayed too effectively. Even the finale -- when Shahid reaches out to Kareena -- isn't convincing. Like I pointed out earlier, what binds the film together is the chemistry between the lead pair and a few charming moments.

Satish Kaushik's handling of a few sequences is commendable. Himesh Reshammiya's musical score is quite good. 'Kuch To Baaki Hai' and the title track are good compositions. Cinematography is okay.

Both Shahid and Kareena play the hopeless romantics to the hilt. Their [then] off screen chemistry comes across very well on screen. Although the film was shot several years ago and Shahid looks boyish all through, his performance is consistent and believable. Kareena is equally convincing. Aarti Chhabria has nothing to do. Delnaaz Paul [Kareena's friend] and Sarfaraz Khan [Shahid's friend] get ample scope and are noticeable. Satish Shah is hardly funny. Kirron Kher sparkles in a brief role. Himani Shivpuri is wasted.

On the whole, MILENGE MILENGE has the charismatic lead pair, who are very popular with the youth, as its USP. But the problem is its dated look. Having taken a long time to reach the theatres, it will have to rely on a solid word of mouth to lure the audiences into cineplexes. Business-wise, there's some hope in the Hindi belt, where traditional love stories and melodrama are accepted.

Shahid Kapoor As Female Attire In Milenge Milenge

Shahid will be seen in a short skirt and pink top in Boney Kapoors Milenge Milenge. Director Satish Kaushik cant stop laughing when he remembers the scene in which the actor dared to go for a major makeover. I didn’t have to convince him at all. He was absolutely cool with dressing up as a girl. Many a times male actors dress up as women, but some of them cant carry it off. However, Shahid is a good-looking guy and he had no problem carrying off this look. Well Shahid definitely is in good company. Previously some of Bollywood’s biggest stars, be it Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan or Aamir Khan, have all donned female attire at some point in their career.

And this isn’t just an inconsequential scene in the movie. In fact, Shahid is dressed as a girl when they meet for the first time in the movie. Revealing a bit about the scene. Satish says, “The first time that a hero and heroine set eyes on each other is an important moment in every movie. This time around, we have treated it differently. In the movie, Shahid and his friends are trying to sneak into a girls hostel for one of their friends girlfriends birthday. Obviously they can’t walk in as guys, so they decide to change their look drastically. And the makeover results in the guys becoming girls. So when they Shahid and Kareena meet for the first time, they meet as two girls, he laughs. The movie that will see the Shahid Kapoor-Kareena Kapoor pair together post Jab We Met will be liked by the audience feels Satish. People want to see them together after Jab We Met. Also the movie is a fast-paced movie. The whole thing about finding ones true love is a very thrilling thought. And frankly, romance never goes out of fashion,” he says.

Ranbir n Shahid to replace Salman n Aamir

Bollywood’s young stars Shahid and Ranbir Kapoor are all set to replace bollywood actors Salman Khan and Aamir Khan in the sequel of “ Andaaz Apna Apna Sequel. The movie was made with Aamir and Salman in the lead almost two decades a go. Now, filmmaker Rajkumar santoshi is determined to remake “ Andaaz Apna Apna” in the lead and the director who is obsessed with Ranbir wants to cast him in the lead role.

While Shahid Kapoor’s role is still be made official, as the actor can be replaced by actor imraan Khan as well. Imraan and Ranbir are good friends and so the rapport in between them is said to be good. But frankly speaking Shahid has a good number of female following and so the tie is in between Shahid and Imraan now.

Wonder why? As the buzz suggests, Shahid’s appearances in the film will change as per the four seasons of the year. Each look will represent a season; hence the actor will have four major makeovers.

“All I can say is, it is the most intensely romantic film I’ve ever done, or am likely to do,” said Shahid.

Badmaash Company about four friends doing con jobs to become rich overnight

Shahid Kapoor-starrer `Badmaash Company`, about four friends doing con jobs to become rich overnight, has got good reviews and viewers have enjoyed their capers but first time director Parmeet Sethi says he wrote the script of the film in frustration.

"The bell actually rang three years back when I was sure that I will direct a film. This is the second script that I have written," Parmeet told reporters.

"Yash Raj Films (YRF) had approved my first script too, but we couldn`t make it. I waited for one and a half years, but the film didn`t take off and I was frustrated. I was in a dilemma whether to stick to my plans to direct a film or go back to acting. Then in frustration, I wrote this script," he added.

"I had five ideas with me out of which two were most compelling. I wanted to write another script before this but that required research work in Canada, which would have taken six months. I didn`t have the money. I didn`t have the time. So I chose this one because I enjoy the genre very much. I think no one has done a full-on con film intelligently," the actor-turned director said.

Set in the 1990s, "Badmaash Company" is about four young friends - Shahid, Anushka Sharma, Vir Das and Meiyang Chang - from middle-class Mumbai who get together to start a company. Their business is an instant hit because they find a way to beat the system by doing all the wrong things in a right way.

The critics have praised the film despite it being too long.

"First, I worked out the whole con thing in my head, then I put it down on paper as script and then wrote dialogues. There are four con jobs in the film and I had to come up with interesting ideas each time to make it as believable as possible," said Parmeet.

To get the right feel of the 1990s, he shot some scenes in Hyderabad.

"The cars, the houses and other locations that we shot in Mumbai, I was particular about everything because I wanted to bring the essence of the 1990s. I actually went to Hyderabad to shoot the airport scene. Mumbai airport of today is very, very modern. But the Hyderabad airport still looks like the old Mumbai airport," he said.

The director, who worked with freshers like Vir and Chang, says he signed Anushka Sharma on Aditya Chopra`s recommendation.

"I wanted some very fresh faces and Vir and Chang were the perfect choice. I didn`t want to have predictable faces. Anushka was Adi`s recommendation. I didn`t know her personally. I was a little doubtful, but Adi assured me that I`ll like her once we meet," he said.

Parmeet, who featured in Aditya`s directorial debut "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" (1995), says he was sceptical while approaching YRF to produce the film.

"I spoke over phone and asked for an appointment with Adi and I got it. That`s all I did. In the last 15 years I hardly met Adi as he hardly socialises...everyone knows that. I was hoping he hadn`t forgotten me. But he not only gave me the appointment but gave me respect and was pleasantly surprised by my script," he said.

Parmeet now wants to be behind the camera and make more films but doesn`t rule out the possibility of getting back to acting.

"I haven`t said good bye to anything. I don`t want to be cocky about life. But as of now it`s only direction for me. I think this is my main career now."

Iranian bride for Shahid Kapoor?

Obsessed with Sasha, Iranian woman tore her passport just to stay in the country; writes poems and has imaginary love chats with the star. True stories can, sometimes, make the filmiest Bollywood plot pale in comparison and Parvaneh Morteza Faghiri's is one such story.

The 39-year-old from Iran, who flew down to the city for the second time on May 7 to meet her 'one true love' Shahid Kapoor, is now in a rescue home and the Sahar police are completing formalities to send her back to Iran today.

How it began

Parvaneh says she saw Shahid on television and fell in love with him instantly because she found him romantic. Though she was married to an Iranian man and had a 15-year-old daughter, Zaara, she felt her husband did not love her and, thus decided to leave him.

In February last year, she flew down to Mumbai to meet the actor and convince him to marry her. She said that during her last trip to the city, she had showed people Shahid's photographs and asked for his address."According to her, one of the high points of her last trip was seeing Shahid at the airport once. She kept shouting out his name and he smiled in return. When Shahid was leaving, she shouted out again and he gave her another smile," said an official from the rescue home in Kandivli where Parvaneh has been staying.

Second trip

Parvaneh landed at the Sahar airport on May 7 and immediately started telling people that she wanted to meet Shahid. The Sahar police then took her to the police station, where she kept insisting that she be allowed to meet the actor. On being told that she would be sent back to Iran immediately, she tore up her passport.
