Bollywood Actress Dia Mirza stands up in support of Anushka Sharma

After Minissha Lamba, Bipasha Basu, and Mallika Sherawat’s brother, the latest name to join the bandwagon of actors detained at the sirport for carrying undeclared goods is Band Baaja Baraat actress Anushka Sharma. Anushka was allegedly carrying undeclared jewelary with her while she was returning from Toronto after attending the IIFA awards.

Dia Mirza was along with her when she was being questioned and she expressed her displeasure with the attitude of the customs department towards the celebrities.

“Considering the news of their detainment leaks out even before anyone outside knows of their arrival proves beyond a doubt that someone in there (at the airport) loves the attention,” she said.

“This time, when I was headed to Toronto, I probed as to why I wasn’t provided a (Customs) certificate. I was told by the Customs officer that they do not evaluate jewellery as they are not equipped to,” she said.

Mirza added, “I was there when Anushka was being questioned and I know for a fact that she was carrying scanned images of every item of jewellery and letter of evaluation from the sponsored jeweller. What she did not have was a Customs certificate, which she tried to avail, but was not given. In fact, the officer at the departure gate told many of us to wear all our jewellery on arrival to avoid questioning.”

Hot News: Mallika Sherawat takes on Malaika Arora, Katrina Kaif

In what seems like an open challenge at the throne of the two hottest Bollywood item queens, Mallika Sherawat danced to an item song at Yashraj Studios, whose words blatantly mocked Katrina and Malaika’s twin triumphs.

Mallika sang, “Munni bhi maani aur Sheila bhi maani, Shalu ke thumke ki duniya deewani.”

Apparently the “Munni” and “Sheila” choreographer was approached to do Mallika’s “Shalu ke thumke.” But Farah Khan begged off, saying she only choreographs for very close family friends.

According to a source, the lyrics were originally quite different for the song.

“By openly singing that she’s better than ‘Munni’ and ‘Sheila,’ Mallika is sending out a clear signal to the entertainment industry. It was Mallika who wanted the Munni-Sheila element incorporated into the song. Composer Anand Raj Anand modified the tune accordingly,” the source said.

“Mallika wants to position herself as the No.1 item queen of Bollywood. She feels her ‘Maiyya maiyya’ in ‘Guru’ came long before ‘My name is Sheila’ and ‘Munni badnaam.’ This year she has already performed two item songs and is open to more,” added the source.

What’s more, her image as the tantrum queen is now a thing of the past. While shooting for “Munni bhi maani Sheila bhi maani”, Mallika was the epitome of good behaviour.

Mallika Sherawat comes as a savior of Sia in ‘Na Aana Is Des Laado’

The current track Colors’ show ‘Na Aana Is Des Laado’ is focusing on Ammaji trying to abort Sia’s pregnancy, who is expecting a girl child. Soon, there will be a situation where Ammaji will try to harm Sia by putting poison in her milk. At this point of time, Mallika Sherawat will enter the serial as Naag Maata (snake Goddess) and drink the poisoned milk for Sia thus saving her.

Mallika Sherawat thus turns a saviour for Sia (Natasha Sharma). She is coming to the show to promote her upcoming film Hisss, in which she essays the role of a snake woman (naagin). The viewers of the show will be delighted to see Mallika will be seen taking her ‘naagin’ avatar just after saving the protagonist.

A source from the show was quoted revealing that the forthcoming episode will see major twists in the show. An angry Raghav will enter his house with a revolver and will demand to get Sia back from Ammaji’s clasp or he will kill himself. He will threaten Ammaji to get prepared for dire consequences if she does not return Sia. On being threatened by her son, Ammaji brings Sia back to the haveli and organizes the ‘godh bharai’ function for Sia and Chanda.

Mallika is aware of Ammaji’s wrong intention and thus enters ‘haveli’ in the disguise of a nomad along with her group. She will be seen performing to a popular number.

So get ready to watch Mallika in her ‘naagin’ avatar in ‘Na Aana Is Des Laado’ and this episode is likely to be aired this week.

Mallika's Royal Touch: Princess of Kerala's Debut Delight In 'Hisss'!

Mallika Sherawat, who's forever thirsty for A Listers… has bagged some royal company. Truly, considering that her forthcoming film 'Hisss' stars Her Royal Highness Princess Lakshmi Bai of Travencore!

"Akka" as she is affectionately called by close friends and family, met 'Hisss' director Jennifer Lynch through family friend Govind Menon, a producer of the film, and has known Mallika for the past few years.

When director Lynch was casting for the role of Divya Dutta's mother (Irrfan's mother in law) for the film, she set her sights on the princess, "discovered" her, and offered her the role.

Initially, the Princess vehemently refused and Jennifer had to practically beg her to be in the movie. After much convincing and cajoling, the Princess finally agreed to be a part of the film. To everyone's pleasant surprise, the Princess turned out to be a pro in front of the camera!

Director Lynch stated, "Akka is a natural story teller… Her intelligence and grace are matched only by her incredible instinct about people and their character. It was an honor to be her director."

The role is a crucial one, with intensely dramatic scenes alongside Irrfan Khan, whom many consider to be one of India's greatest actors. "Akka" also provides a healthy amount of comic relief in the film, and her character's storyline is crucial to the plot.

In fact, according to an inside source, word among some of the elite circles in Hollywood that have screened the film have said that she "is one of the best things about the film. A break out character. Everyone thought she must have been a seasoned, or legendary actress from India. No one would have guessed this was her first role. Here she is working with award winning actors, and she actually manages to steal some scenes!"

With the 'Hisss' promotional tour starting early October 2010, sources say that the Princess might even be accompanying Mallika during her trips to some cities down South.

Grapevine is that, the actress, was auctioned, and the winning bidder got to spend a day with her – you know the usual lunch, photo-shoots and all.

Mallika Sherawat's new film Hissss' first trailer is out. From the trailer, it appears that the film have many peppy scenes and also violent and scary scenes including murders. In a scene it shows Mallika Sherawat slithering in mud and becoming a snake. She wears a body fit suit and many a times it's confuses the viewer as to whether she has worn anything or not. In another scene Mallika is slithering up a tree and baring her fangs sending shock waves up your spine. Irrfan Khan and Divya Dutta are among Mallika's co-stars in the film.

The story of Hisss is about a snake woman portrayed by Mallika Sherawat looking for revenge. Irrfan and Divya Dutta plays a couple and reportedly there is a very passionate scene between the two. Mallika hisses with snake at Cannes to promote Hisss

Mallika Sherawat who is very famous for her different and bold roles in films plays with dangers to promote hr Hollywood project. The actress plays with a snake at 63rd Cannes International Film Festival to promote Hissss, the film Directed by Jennifer Lynch and produced by Govind Menon and Vikram Singh Lamba of Split Image Pictures.

On Sunday, at the Majestic Hotel in Cannes, France, the sizzling beauty dressed in yellow and black outfit was seen with a live 22-foot python so as to promote her snake film Hisss where she plays a snake woman in the film.

Mallika tweeted on her blog, “All the Snakes have just entered the Majestic Hotel in Cannes! Hissstory is being made.”

The movie also features Irrfan Khan, Divya Dutta and American character actor Jeff Doucette. It will be distributed by Venus Records and Tapes.

The actress also unveiled its releasing day in India. She added at her blog on twitter, “The announcement was made at Cannes, Hisss being released (in) India Independence Day (Aug 15).”

Mallika Sherawat to shoot with a snake

Mallika Sherawat is gearing up to be shot to shot by ace photographer Richard Avedon, who immortalized the ’80s German actress Nastassja Kinski by clicking her with just an enormous boa constrictor wrapped around her.

The actress, who is playing a snake-woman in her home production titled Hissss, wants to take her association with a snake to a whole different level!

A source close to Mallika confirms,

“She is currently in Los Angeles and she plans to do a photo shoot conceptualised and (to be) shot by ace photographer Richard Avedon this week. The concepts of both the shoots are similar, as in they involved a snake and an actress.” The photo session will take place at Studio 838, owned by fashion photographer Ash Gupta.

While Nastassja was naked in her photograph, it remains to be seen how far Mallika will go in terms of skin show. However an insider reveals, “Mallika will also go bare for the pictures.”

The sexy reptilian images captured will be used as key-art for the Hisss poster and marketing materials upon the film’s release.

Mallika Sherawat is going places, all thanks to her never-say-die attitude. Although after ‘Welcome’, the actress disappeared from the big screen but now news has it that she is back with a bang.
